Meet haley

Haley DeLisle has been studying instrumental music since the age of 4, beginning with piano and violin. After discovering the cello in her public school exploration class, she began private and group instruction at the age of 10. She continued her cello performance education at Wayne State University under Marcy Chateaux. While participating in an internship with the String Project @ Wayne during her undergraduate studies, Haley found her life passion; teaching instrumental music to the students who need it the most. Haley graduated with a degree and certification in Instrumental Music Education in 2014.

After graduating, Haley taught 5-8th grade orchestra for Wyandotte Public Schools. Searching for a way to stay connected with the city and its youth, Haley also worked with the Detroit Children's Choir and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's Wu Family Academy after school hours and over the summer.

Haley also maintained a small private lesson studio, exploring different teaching methods and styles. After discovering the Suzuki method in 2015, Haley obtained Suzuki cello certification under the tutelage of Nancy Hair, Beth Goldstein-McKee, Shu-Yi Scott and Abbey Hansen. After starting a family, Haley decided to focus on her Suzuki studio, leaving the public school sector in 2017. Working with Suzuki Music Academy of Michigan, Haley taught private lessons, group classes, theory classes, and coached chamber ensembles. She also served as the registrar, helping new families learn more about the Suzuki method for several years. Starting with 2 private students in 2015, Haley grew her cello studio to 18 students before her departure from SMA.

Haley founded Metro Detroit Suzuki in 2023. Starting with the Metro Detroit Cello Studio, Haley is excited to venture out independently to provide musical opportunities to cellists in the metro-Detroit area and beyond.
