lessons @ mds cello studio

Young and/or beginning cello students receive 1 weekly private lesson, 1 monthly group class, and 1 monthly studio class. Older and/or advanced students receive 1 weekly private lesson and 1 monthly studio class.

Private lessons are scheduled at a mutually convenient time for 30, 45, or 60 minutes. Yearly tuition includes 30 private lessons (pro-rated for registration after September 11th); additional lessons are available upon request.

All MDS Cello Studio group classes meet on Monday at 5:30pm in our Royal Oak studio. Group classes are a vital part of student development and are a required part of in-person instruction for all students. Beginning-intermediate Suzuki students are required to attend both Suzuki Group class and Studio class. Advanced and virtual students will have the option to opt out of Suzuki Group at the instructors discretion. Yearly tuition includes 10 Studio classes and 10 Suzuki Group Classes (where applicable).

Intermediate-Advanced cello students are invited (but not required) to participate in our cello choir, which meets bi-weekly and hosts an additional performance schedule around the metro-Detroit area.

  • PRIVATE LESSON

Private lessons give each student the chance to learn in a highly individualized manner, providing each student with the best opportunity for success.

  • GROUP CLASS

Playing in a group setting allows each student to play with spirit and enthusiasm in a safe, judgement free environment. Students will have the opportunity to observe and learn from their peers in a positive environment.  Students will develop resilience and an ability to perform in front of an audience without the fear of judgement or failure.

  • CELLO CHOIR

Meeting twice a month, students will participate in note reading activities and learn to perform as a chamber ensemble. Additional community performances will be available. Encouraged for students who have completed an intermediate note reading course
